Hey, don’t lawmakers have their schedules full enough? There’s already abuse and neglect laws, and they should have applied to Casey, except for the perceptions of the jury.
Speaking of jurors, I do so wish to know the opinion of Mr. Ford. Overall, I think the jurors should remain silent. As should the Anthonys and Casey.

People are saying, basically, that Caylee’s law is impractical: caring parents will overload law enforcement with unnecessary calls (i.e. – when they panic when their kid is home an hour late), while abusive parents won’t be daunted by the law and will continue to abuse / murder their children, regardless of whether it becomes a felony not to report a missing child within a specific period of time. I have to say, I am inclined to agree.

Did they think there would be Casey’s fingerprints and DNA after 6 months of Caylee’s body rotting away and being chewed on by animals? The jury never asked one question about anything to do with evidence or instructions. I heard that 6 of them were against any charges, and 6 were for the felony child abuse. How did those 6 get talked into a not guilty verdict? The odd thing is that they found her guilty of lying to police. If she wasn’t guilty of murder, then the only lie they knew was definitely a lie was that she worked at Universal. Everything else she told police should have been ignored unless she was found guilty because those lies, in the jury’s mindset, could have been true. I am still shocked. The jury made the wrong decision, possibly in a hurry to get back to their families. Caylee didn’t get justice.

Even without hard evidence, simple logic told us that Casey Anthony was somehow responsible for her daughter’s death. Yet this jury acquitted her of virtually all charges, including the lesser charges of manslaughter and child abuse.

People have been found guilty of murder without ever finding the body. Casey gets off after not reporting her little girl missing (her mom did it after 31 days), abandoning her car that had decomposition and chloroform in the trunk, computer searches on her parents’ computer for how to make chloroform when her parents were both at work, countless lies, people made up to cover her lies, and her daughter’s body found with duct tape around her mouth and nose that was linked to her parents’ house, with a heart sticker over the mouth, as well as the laundry bag that her body was in. There were pictures and testimony about Casey living life to the fullest during the time her daughter was supposedly abducted by the nanny (another lie that hurt yet another person). There were surveilance tapes of Casey in the Blockbuster the day Caylee went missing, and she looked happy. There was the tattoo “Bella Vita”, the beautiful life, that she got after Caylee went missing. She admitted to her friends that her car smelled, told her family she was in Jacksonville when cell phone records proved she wasn’t, and even went to her parents’ house and borrowed a shovel from the neighbor. The cadavar dogs hit in the playhouse and the backyard and the trunk of her car. Her dad wanted to get a tire iron out of the trunk and she refused to allow him to open the trunk on that visit. Then, Caylee’s body was found not far from the family home. What other evidence did the jury want? Did they want a confession from her? This jury was totally inept. They were supposedly death-qualified, but obviously that didn’t make a difference at all.
