    Rick Perry’s candidacy for president is, in essence, an anti-democracy effort. His latest brain storm, to make Congress a part time job with meetings only every other yr., would largely silence what is already the muted voice of the people. Cong. Paul Ryan’s proposal, backed by Perry and others, to require a 2/3rds vote on future tax changes, would bring the national legislative body to a virtual stop, or require such wild contortions of compromise with the minority that losing elections would have no sting. Meanwhile, state legislators in Pennsylvania are moving to take away the “winner takes all” aspect of the presidential vote in their state. Elsewhere, the Republican party, and state legislators, are eagerly engaged in voter suppression efforts by requiring picture IDs on election day.
    As to your blog about having a ‘civil discourse” I dont think its very civil of you to put up a picture of the President of the U.S. as Hitler.

    I agree with that article – but I also agree there is no help from the GOP and that over a billion dollars will be spent on this slug-fest of an election that is coming up.
    My personal opinion is that a President be elected for 6 years and then out. We dont need to spend the money and the President needs to do what he promised to do without worrying about getting re-elected. I also believe the corruption is rampant on both sides of the aisle. I never doubted that. But at least the Democrats who are mostly wealthy themselves favor a tax that will probably be incurred by most of them and dont favor just more boons for the rich. Its about the clear connection between economic inequality and social injustice. Our public policies have been engineered to favor the wealthy at the expense of the common good even though there is no truth to voodoo economics of the trickle-down theory. The nation is at its strongest when the middle class is strongest. With capitalism disengaged from morality the unrest in groups such as Occupy was inevitable. Steve Jobs made his billions by outsourcing jobs to foreign labor despite the fact that it was really a very low manufacturing cost. Apple is sitting on an ocean of cash- If he had felt anything but absolute greed, he could have created well paying jobs here in the U.S. and still been highly profitable – but he didnt did he and neither do the rest of these so-called patriotic corporations now afforded the same status as an individual. They will spend their cash to get what they want which is to create more and more wealth -Corporations done create jobs they create wealth. Ok fine for them but its to the detriment of this country all the outsourcing going on and for many of the unemployed of a certain age they will NEVER work again – too old or too unskilled and neither party can do anything about that.

    Earlier this year, Texas yanked about $64 million in funding from Planned Parenthood and directed the funds to agencies that do not do abortions. In conjunction with that, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission submitted a request to the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services to circumvent the rules to be able to do so.

    However, as it has in Indiana and New Hampshire, the Obama administration denied the request and, according to the Texas Tribune, Cindy Mann, director of the federal agency, wrote a letter to Texas officials today saying its request is a violation of the federal Social Security Act.

    1. Back in 1961 people of color were called ‘Negroes.’ So how can the Obama ‘birth certificate’ state he is ‘African-American’ when the term wasn’t even used at that time?

    2. The birth certificate that the White House released lists Obama’s birth as August 4, 1961. It also lists Barack Hussein Obama as his father. No big deal, right? At the time of Obama’s birth, it also shows that his father is aged 25 years old, and that Obama’s father was born in ” Kenya , East Africa “. This wouldn’t seem like anything of concern, except the fact that Kenya did not even exist until 1963, two whole years after Obama’s birth, and 27 years after his father’s birth. How could Obama’s father have been born in a country that did not yet exist? Up and until Kenya was formed in 1963, it was known as the “British East Africa Protectorate”.

    3. On the birth certificate released by the White House, the listed place of birth is “Kapi’olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital”. This cannot be, because the hospital(s) in question in 1961 were called “KauiKeolani Children’s Hospital” and “Kapi’olani Maternity Home”, respectively. The name did not change to Kapi’olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital until 1978, when these two hospitals merged. How can this particular name of the hospital be on a birth certificate dated 1961 if this name had not yet been applied to it until 1978?

Discouraged, you stop looking, at least for the moment. According to the government, you’re no longer unemployed. Congratulations?

      I haven’t done a post on Penn State due to my deep disgust and feelings of betrayal from what was a revered institution. I may at some point do one but for now I have to leave it alone.

      Penn State was my son’s one and only college preference because of Joe Paterno. Since we are Pennsylvanians Paterno had legendary status with us.

      Now I can’t even talk to my son about this.

      BTW, my son became a Marine instead of attending Penn State.

    hearing. Thus the accusers will not have to testify twice. I think
    Sandusky’s Lawyer knows he is toast. Not even Baez and a jury

I can’t tell if this was conscious fraud on the part of the Times or just incompetence (the editorial also seemingly misstates what the New Poverty Line is for a family of four).       I am extremely exhausted observing too many blacks looking to leaders such as Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Kwame Kilpatrick, Charlie Rangel, and Louis Farrakhan. Men who are outright thieves and worthless to the bone — yeah, I sure did say that. They are the very ones who rob us of our blessings because of their own weakness. Men like them do not deserve any honor or respect from us. The only intentions they have ever had, are to divide us. They bring the curse because they are representatives of the curse. How is it that anyone could think to have any honor or gain any respect by following men such as these? Men who lie, commit infidelity, cheat, and steal from the very ones they claim to be helping. The list of greedy poverty pimps continues to grow because we do not hold them accountable, nor do we question their actions against us. They clearly have their own agenda, and it is not in the best interest of the community. They insist on waging war against those of us who speak out the truth and recognize them by their true evil characteristics. They do not represent us, nor do they speak on our behalf. They are only cowards who enjoy hiding behind their ugly deeds. They keep us on a short chain like an abused dog. When they need us, they gladly set us free, and then use us for their benefit.

        Let me also add, if I may, that voting for someone just because they are black is not a means of payback or revenge. If you even think that for a moment, you are sadly mistaken. You are only hurting yourself by making that decision. That only proves just how ignorant, shallow and unforgiving you truly are. Why is it that 98% of blacks vote in favor of shattering their own circumstances? That’s right, every single time you vote the Democrat base you tighten the noose around your neck. Meanwhile, the rest of the community suffers and remains in shambles. You keep the shackles on by voting for those values. When will we learn that social programs and handouts are not working in our favor so that we can move forward towards success? Dumbing us right on down, and we are repeatedly keeping ourselves enslaved by doing so. That is the very message we are sending out to others who are looking in our direction. That is the future we have chosen for our children.
