Good idea?

Asking a voter to show identification at the ballot box is hardly discrimination; it’s common sense. Holder’s comments make it clear that the Department of Justice is more interested in defending the Democrat’s ability to vote at multiple locations rather than protect any Texan’s right to vote.

The Obama Administration’s unprecedented assault on state’s rights will continue, this time in Texas. While at the Lyndon Johnson Center on Tuesday, Attorney General threw down the legal gauntlet, threatening to sue the state of Texas over proposed voting changes.

An hour and a half outside of Dallas, the Athens town square is dominated by the county courthouse, and this time of year, Christmas decorations are on each corner. But it is the nativity scene across the street from the Taco Bell that has caused controversy.

I thought that one always showed ID as well as their voter ID card when voting. I can’t remember never showing my driver’s license and I register to vote at the DMV when renewing my license.

I lost respect for O’Reiley. He made a mistake in his latest book that he, as a history teacher, shouldn’t have made and when he was called on it he didn’t think it was a big deal. I can’t remember exactly what it was but it had to do with Lincoln, iirc.

Ha! I just checked to see if I was registered and I wasn’t! The DMV has done this to me before so I thought I’d best check. Now, I’m registered-one can check their status by going to their county’s election board site. If you’re not registered you can most likely download the application. I should have my notification in two weeks, plenty of time befiore our primary. Easy-peasy!~

Today it was reported that one in two Americans are poor or low income – the decimation of the middle class didnt start with Obama – it started with Republican policies a long time ago and continues to this day.
This is still America and not a fascist state – yet. The laws passed in Arizona
regarding harassing people who are “suspected” to be illegal is one step closer to a fascist state and if you cant see that you dont understand American values.
As far as having an ID – if you are a registered voter and are on the list at your polling station why do you need more ID? There is no law specifying that you need to carry an ID with you at anytime as long as you arent driving and its still a free
country where you have free will as far as I can see. If you have registered you have shown ID – the only reason the GOP is doing this is to suppress the vote and you know it. They are also cutting down voting hours, early voting and they are trying to redistrict like crazy and its obvious to everyone whom they are aiming these rules at. They can do what they want – Gingrich will be your candidate and Obama will win by a landslide. Of all the presidential candidates ever nominated Gingrich has to be the most flawed, corrupt one presented. Is that the best ya got? HA!

      Dec 15, 2011 @ 11:17:18

Well, what’s taking you progressives so long in making our nation a fascist state? Progressives believe government should be the god and provider from cradle to grave and it pisses them off to no end that states have power over the federal guvment to keep that from happening…awwww

      Dec 15, 2011 @ 11:27:22

OK, suppose someone takes your credit card to the bank to get cash out of your account. Would you be pleased that no one checked for ID? Checking for ID at polling places shouldn’t be so much of a big deal unless there’s prospects of fraud underfoot. Why such outcry against ID checking, huh, huh?

I bellieve Gingrich will win the election if he is the candidate because even dems are leaving the party because of Obama and Gingrich will do for them. Obama doesn’t respect the Constitution, he hasn’t created jobs but has destroyed them for the sake of the socialist agenda, he is in bed with the terrorists called Muslim Brotherhood…gee, Theou…you are that frog in the pot and your party is turning up the heat on one another. How dumb is that?

obama’s agenda is completely to destroy the American economy and sadly, he is doing a good job of it

However, We the People see him for what he is and will not let it continue

As for the lack luster GOP candidates – could very well be but regardless obama will be done

    Well good morning, Theou

I agree that a person should have an ID and that if you don’t, for what ever bizarre reason, you can’t vote!

The ‘harassment’ you speak of in AZ is the law to protect LEGAL AMERICAN’S and not coddle criminals – which a person is if they are HERE ILLEGALLY!

Explain how the vote is being suppressed? By disallowing dead people and cartoon characters from voting? As for redistricting – Dems do it all the time – it is called gerrymandering

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) delivered a severe rebuke to Palestinians on Thursday, linking their culture to terrorism and questioning their worthiness to have an independent state.

Speaking to a conference of Reform Jews, Cantor told of a Palestinian woman treated for burns at an Israeli hospital who tried to return for a follow-up visit wearing a suicide belt.

“What kind of culture leads one to do that? Sadly, it is a culture infused with resentment and hatred,” Cantor said.

The hunt involving U.S. and UK law enforcement agencies is now escalating. On Wednesday night UK time, six detectives with the UK police (Norfolk Police Department) raided the home of at least one blogger, removing his equipment to look for clues to the identity of leaker “FOIA 2011.”

On December 9, DOJ sent a preservation letter under 18 U.S.C 2703(f) to the publication platform (website host) WordPress. This authority authorizes the government to request an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to preserve all records of a specific account for 90 days while the feds work on a warrant.

WSI: President Obama…the administration…the people around him…they have embraced chaos. They have implemented it at every opportunity. I do not believe it to be purposeful necessarily from the president – he does not possess the…full understanding of what he has done – continues to do…but those around him likely know exactly what they are doing. The goal – I am certain of this now…the goal is the destabilization of the American economy in the hopes of then picking up the pieces and putting it back together in their own image. This was done during the Roosevelt administration – the Great Depression. This was done following the assassination of John Kennedy, following Watergate, September 11th – and now they hope to do so again.

UM: How is Soros involved in the Global Warming movement?

WSI: (Eyebrows raise) Where do you think so many of the grants come from to “study” the impacts of Global Warming? The vast majority who make their living studying this fabricated issue do so at the bidding of Mr. Soros and his supporters – and that reality has been in place for some time The IPS, the Alliance for Climate Protection…there are so many layers that have been produced by the Soros’ interests it would take us days just to mention each one. The entertainment industry, advertising, education…it has permeated every facet of American society. The expense to do so has been tens of billions of dollars – but the payoff if successful is far more.

UM: How are the unions involved?

WSI: Are you aware of the term “Blue-Green Alliance”?

WSI: It is a partnership among some of the largest and most influential labor unions and equally large and influential environmental groups. The very nature of the relationship is undeniable proof that Global Warming has almost nothing to do with concerns about climate and everything to do with profit and power. The Blue-Green alliance has millions of members – from teachers, steel workers, government employees, the National Wildlife Federation…every major union and environmental group is involved. All those green energy jobs? All the environmental regulations that are to be implemented? Small business will be destroyed and only large union-backed/government-approved corporations and government entities will remain – the essence of a Statist economy. The very thing Adolph Hitler developed in Nazi Germany. The very same thing.

You dont really believe in Anerican ideals – and everyone knows that the Fascists espoused a RIGHT wing agenda – far right. Not left. You seem to perceive the rich as gods and the poor as evil. Europe has had their turn at slashing and cutting everything and they are going into a downward spiral. Some how you expect by cutting and slashing everything that it will have the opposite effect -that the rich and the corporations will somehow all pour money down upon us. It aint going to happen and it hasnt happened in Europe where England is in a bigger mess than ever from the austerity programs. You dont want the government in your life – what the heck makes this country exceptional? Everyone has beautiful mountains and scenery – the thing that makes America exceptional over all is our government – which you seem to hate except in cases where the peoples will has prevailed – as in states that allow abortions and gay marriage – THEN you want the government to step in with these constitutional amendments to get it your way.
Thats exactly what I mean by Fascism – thats what it does – it thwarts the will of the people. Most people in this country are for gay marriage and most are for the laws on abortion to stay as they are. Its the the vocal few that rally like those idiots in the Tea Party that have fired up what used to be a decent party – the Republicans to make them into insane puppets that sign every pledge that comes their way from every right wing nut. Signing pledges when you have sworn to uphold the constitution is what is unAmerican – Is Grover Norquist an unelected
rabblerouser on the right now more important than their duty to the people of this country? I know what drives the right and its not what is good for the country – its good for their puppet masters – the corporations – the lobbyists who provide them with luxuries – I didnt see any complaints posted about Nikky Haleys trip to Paris
with her entourage from the right – even though she paid nothing for that trip.
Gov. Nikki Haley’s weeklong trip to Europe in June in search of “jobs, jobs, jobs” cost South Carolinians more than $127,000. But the governor and her entourage
of more than two dozen returned without any finished deals to bring new employers to South Carolina – while she ate and drank in expensive hotels and didnt pay a dime out of her own pocket. Just another boondoggle at the expense of the people that put her in office.

    Just for your edification:

    Definition of FASCISM
often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control

But even an economy that lurches forward again won’t touch the real inequality problem we face. It isn’t measured in income. It’s measured in independence.

And it won’t go away until the political power concentrated at the national level is so diminished that the most economically powerful and the most economically powerless will stop conspiring to put government in charge of ever more aspects of American life.

Money is not the culprit, either, in the way that it’s portrayed. The call to “get the money out of politics” is beginning to sound like a clever way of convincing voters that we should eliminate the only intermediary currently blunting the force of a direct relationship between big government and the American people. At least the moronic money game tangles up the government in its own inefficiency and waste.

      Dec 18, 2011 @ 12:42:21

As the dire situation unfolding in Europe warns us, this symbiotic relationship between the government, the ultra rich and the ultra poor can lead to a collapse of political authority — first in the hearts of the beleaguered citizens left out of the cycle of subsidy and control, and then in the minds of the dependents of all classes who have no use for a government that cannot keep the euros, or dollars, flowing.

The material rewards of liberty cannot be commanded or controlled. If Americans are prevented from freely associating for the purpose of regulating and overseeing their own affairs, yet expected to come together to “out-innovate the world,” ever-deeper malaise will be the result — in the White House, first of all.

Mr. Norquist is president of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), a taxpayer advocacy group he founded in 1985 at President Reagan’s request. ATR is a coalition of taxpayer groups, individuals and businesses opposed to higher taxes at the federal, state and local levels
