Many of us consider freedom of expression is a fundamental right in itself. Expressions used in criminal ways, like committing fraud or inciting violence is indeed a matter for the courts, but a victimless crime where not even a single Muslim protested that his faith had been ‘denigrated’, surely cannot be subject to legal action, fines or jail time. In a free society, that is.

The difference comes when the State as such submits to Islam. In that case, the supposed ‘sanctity’ of Islamic teachings obtain protection by the Law, and due to the Islamic tradition that the life of Muhammad was a perfect example for all (male) Muslims, everything Muhammad did is to be considered holy and thus protected from criticism. That includes his having sex with minors.
The implications of this are huge, for how are we to speak out against the tradition of child brides that still exist in many Islamic countries if we’re not even permitted to express any “excess of opinion”, as defined by the Court? Would we have to run every possible criticism or sarcastic comment past the Court for approval before it is made public? What are people whose e livelihood consists of satire and mockery — stand-up comedians, satire magazines — supposed to do if they come across the idea to mock religiously sanctioned sexual relationships with minors, or those who justify them?

Don’t even speak the truth about islam, like its bad science…which is mild compared to speaking against its ideology. Can you imagine a science teacher teaching that the Earth revolves around the Sun being taken to court because he insulted the prophet’s teaching that the Sun revolves around the Earth? 🙄

It was barely mentioned in the Israeli and global media, but the following event pertains to the whole of Western civilization: Last Saturday, violent groups of Islamic-Salafi radicals burned the famous scientific institute established by Napoleon in Egypt after its first encounter with the West. Some historians consider it the start of modern times in the Middle East.

The site, L’Institut d’Egypte, held some 200,000 original and rare books, exhibits, maps, archeological findings and studies from Egypt and the entire Middle East, based on the work of generations of western researchers. Most of the artifacts were lost forever, burned or looted.
It’s difficult to understand the modern Middle East without these studies, which were overcome by an immense fire. The large building was situated in the center of Cairo and torching it was a symbolic, intentional act. Those who burned the building and its artifacts meant to burn the era of logic, enlightenment, research and individualism.

Today’s Boston Globe has an article on the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha (the holiday of the sacrifice) which is today on the Muslim calendar. (Hat Tip: Memeorandum) The article makes some progress by admitting that there is a killing problem associating with the Muslim community. Unfortunately, the problem is attributed as “we” – not just Muslims – are responsible for terrorism. Read what he says closely:

The ongoing imbroglio with Denver Bronco quarterback Tim Tebow has made plain three really unflattering facts about the secular-progressive (“sec-prog”) movement in this country. Tebow’s straightforward and unapologetic Christianity has been received by NFL mensae magnae (contradiction in terms?) as a type of threat. These folks have responded by building upon the previously gathered strength of the anti-Christian movement in this nation. Such a movement, by the way, is far more prevalent than it formerly appeared.
First truth: the sec-progs have meatier game in sight than we used to think. That is, when sec-progs start out declaring that they aim merely to set a plain whereupon all religions can fairly “coexist,” they really contemplate an end-game where religions fade permanently out of view. Have a look at the emergent history of the jurisprudence: “No federal religion” became “no state religions”; this became “no government entanglement with religion”; this became “no governmental support for religion”; this became “no governmental mention of religion”; this led to the phase that the Tebow debacle currently evinces: “no popular mention of religion in any public sphere, including private affairs which get viewed on TV.” One can easily imagine the last few steps in this phenomenology of disappearance.

Apparently, Matt Damon and Barack Obama are exchanging insults via the media now. According to the sourcelink, Matt Damon is disenchanted with Obama, and had some harsh criticism for the president. He said, “I’ve talked to a lot of people who worked for Obama at the grassroots level. One of them said to me, ‘Never again. I will never be fooled again by a politician.’ You know, a one-term president with some balls who actually got stuff done would have been, in the long run of the country, much better.”

The debt limit is projected to fall within $100 billion of the current cap by December 30. President Barack Obama is expected to ask for additional borrowing authority to increase the limit by $1.2 trillion.
Under the new budget, Congress can only vote to block the debt-ceiling extension with a disapproval resolution. Lawmakers have 15 days within receiving the request to vote down the debt limit increase.
The debt limit currently stands at $15.194 trillion and would increase to $16.394 trillion with the request.
Of course, this comes after that “supercommittee” that was supposed to find $1.2 TRILLION in spending CUTS did jack squat on our dime and failed miserably. What do we care, though? I mean, it’s just our hard-earned money.

I know you all thought $4 million for a vacation was a little steep, butt when you take a look at this, I think you’ll agree with me that the Wons are definitely getting your money’s worth.
So rest well America, the champions of the little people are squeezing in a little “me time” in Big Guy’s alleged birth state before getting back to work on for the American people. There’s something profoundly tragic about the failed presidency of Barack Obama. He was supposed to be a new kind of president, a man who embodied hope and would transcend petty politics and even race. Instead, we’re left with a downgraded America that is stagnating under the weight of its bloated government. As tragic as that alone is, even this is but a mere symptom of Mr. Obama’s larger fundamental failure: He simply does not trust the Americans who entrusted him with the presidency.
Most presidents, we believe, ascend to the Oval Office, but for the 44th president, the reverse seems true. Whatever majesty the White House can muster must rise to the grandiosity of Barack Obama. “We are the ones we have been waiting for,” said the man who writes autobiographies and later would claim to control the rise of the oceans.

For statists like Mr. Obama, no matter how bloated our government has become, America is forever just one legislative act away from utopia, if only those untrustworthy Americans would just get in line. The man who ran on hope has instead embraced a tragic pessimism that views all free Americans with disdain as either incompetent rubes in need of his salvation or unrighteous villains in need of his rules. Either way, Mr. Obama embraces a command-and-control government and rejects American freedom.

First, let me point out that Big Guy worked hard in a bipartisan fashion all last year in order to get the Budget Control Act (a leading entry in this year’s “most ironic name” contest) passed last August. As you may recall, the BCA was the very popular bipartisan bill that raised our debt ceiling and reduced spending (towards the end of the next decade) by a whopping $1.8 trillion! Butt that’s not all: at Big Guy’s personal direction Congress further agreed to wrangle $7 billion (that’s billion, with a “b”) out of the Federal year-over-year discretionary budget.
Allow me to do the math for you: $7 million cut, minus $4 million vacation – that’s still a whopping $3 million net savings!

With 2011 drawing to a close, it is time to account. As an early-and-often chronicler of Chicago-on-the-Potomac, I am amazed at the stubborn and clingy persistence of President Barack Obama’s snowblowers in the media. See no scandal, hear no scandal, speak no scandal.
Dartmouth College professor Brendan Nyhan asserted in May — while Operation Fast and Furious subpoenas were flying on Capitol Hill — that “one of the least remarked upon aspects of the Obama presidency has been the lack of scandals.” Conveniently, he defines scandal as a “widespread elite perception of wrongdoing.”

Apparently the presence of our weak-kneed “leader” isn’t going over too well with the military families who have had to sacrifice so Obama can spend his days sucking down cigarettes on a golf course:

Also all of those guys out there missed out on Christmas, leaving their wives and children at home alone so the President can play golf. It may not affect you, or be important to you, but to the families affected it’s a sensitive subject and frankly I feel that people are allowed to be upset by that. You are entitled to your own opinion, but you really should consider expressing your opinion in a different way. Cursing and calling people names isn’t respectable.”

So when I can’t get to my house because he wants to play golf it just adds insult to injury and yeah, gets on my nerves.
