Moral compass

Obama warned us about the character of people who would do this:

“The easiest thing in the world to do is to talk about change during election time. Everybody talks about change during election time, you’ve got to look at how they act when its not convenient, when its hard.”

Now let’s look at why Obama abandoned his ethics.

Democrats had complained that Obama’s distaste for the Supreme Court decision in the so-called Citizens United case that spawned Super PACs had affected the success of the same groups formed to help him.

Restore our Future, a group supporting Republican presidential frontrunner and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, raised $30.2 million in 2011 and had cash on hand of $23.6 million at the end of the year, according to filings submitted last month.

By contrast, Priorities USA Action raised $4.2 million by the end of 2011 and had $1.5 million in cash on hand.

Those figures confirmed fears within the Obama orbit that the eventual Republican nominee and his supporters could outspend the president in the general election, despite the Obama campaign’s own fundraising strength.

American motorists have seen the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline rise above $3.50 a gallon on just three occasions, but it has never happened this early in the year. Analysts say it’s likely a sign that pain at the pump will rise to some of the highest levels ever seen later this year.

In 2008, average gasoline prices had hit inflation-adjusted records nationally by the summer, but they didn’t climb above $3.50 a gallon across the U.S. that year until April 21, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report. It happened again last year, but not until March 6.

But $3.50 a gallon gasoline is already here in 2012, weeks before refineries typically shut down for springtime maintenance, and weeks before the states switch from their less expensive winter blends of gasoline to more complicated and pricier summer blends.,0,2776477.story?track=rss

The Obama budget was released yesterday, and the administration predicted that the deficit in fiscal 2013 would fall to $901 billion.

Before taking that estimate to the bank, so to speak, it’s probably a good idea to see how on-target the administration has been with previous deficit projections:

In February 2009, Obama submitted his first budget to Congress. It boldly predicted that the federal deficit would decrease dramatically during Obama’s term, dropping from an estimated $1.841 trillion in fiscal 2009 to $557.4 billion in fiscal 2012.

However, in the fiscal 2013 budget that Obama submitted to Congress today, the White House is predicting that the federal deficit for fiscal 2012 will not be $557.4 billion after all. Instead, the White House says, it will be $1.3269 trillion.

That means Obama’s fiscal 2010 budget proposal missed on its fiscal 2012 deficit prediction by $769.5 billion — an error of 138 percent.

Obama Hikes Subsidy To Wealthy Electric Car Buyers

(Daily Caller) The White House intends to boost government subsidies for wealthy buyers of the Chevy Volt and other new-technology vehicles — to $10,000 per buyer.

That mammoth subsidy would cost taxpayers $100 million each year if it is approved by Congress, presuming only 10,000 new-technology autos are sold each year.

But the administration wants to get 1 million new-tech autos on the road by 2015. The subsidy cost of that goal could reach $10 billion

Obama’s edict, a curtailment of freedom that can result from his type of regulatory regime and statist interventions, could ultimately threaten his entire reelection.

The birth control rule is not an anomaly in the health care law that somehow sprang out of the measure and ignited a firestorm. It flows naturally from the legislation itself. The law is unique in that it commands individuals to engage in a specific behavior – getting health insurance coverage — and punishes those who refuse.

That is a concern not only to Catholics, but to every voter who thought the law was just about guaranteeing health care for all. Suddenly, there is a level of government intrusion many may not have considered. And it raises questions for everyone about how much of an impact a second Obama term would have on people’s private behavior.

Article II, section 1, of the US Constitution clearly states about the president: “Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” That is the oath that Obama voluntarily took. Further, Article I, section 1, states “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.” So when he says “We can’t wait,” is he hiding behind the phrase “to the best of my Ability?” Does his ability include in what he believes? And how does he get around the phrase “faithfully execute the Office?” Does he think that he is faithfully executing his duties when he invokes his “We can’t wait” stratagem?

    • Kim
      Feb 14, 2012 @ 11:18:58

Here are some examples of his “We can’t wait” strategy and executive fiat:

In October, 2011, Obama, seeking to circumvent congressional opposition and to jump-start the economy, pushed a series of “executive branch steps,” beginning with “new rules” to make it easier for homeowners with little or no equity to refinance their federally funded mortgages, through Fannie May and Freddie Mac, which posted larger losses than expected, sought $6 billion in additional aid.
In July, 2011, Obama told the National Council of La Raza that the idea of “doing things” on his own was “very tempting” when it came to bypassing Congress on immigration.
In September, 2011 Obama told the Congressional Hispanic Caucus he’d like to work his way “around Congress.”
In July, 2011, during the debt limit debate, Obama asked lawyers if there was a way to interpret the 14th Amendment so as to get around Congress and establish a “long-term extension of the federal borrowing limit” on his own.
Before Obama was president he said he wanted to bankrupt the coal industry by imposing a cap and trade system that would be so harsh that “electricity costs would necessarily skyrocket.” Unable to get that bill through Congress, Obama bypassed them and used Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations to accomplish his goals. According to an analysis released in October, 2011, by the Institute for Energy Research, the EPA is “leading the Obama administration’s assault on coal with a number of new regulations.”
Blatant subversion: Lybia war – In Article I, section 8 (Powers of Congress) of the US Constitution, there is the phrase “To declare War…” But Obama said the US actions in Lybia didn’t amount to war, so he didn’t need the approval of Congress. And he ignored the War Powers Act.

Dr. Isma’il ‘Ali Muhammad, head of the Department of Islamic Preaching and Culture at Al-Azhar University, published a series of six articles on the website of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood describing “the Jewish character” and explaining the role of the Bible and Talmud in shaping it. Stating that cruelty, dishonesty and bloodlust are inherent to the Jewish character because they are part of the Jews’ culture and scriptures, he supports his argument with quotations from Jewish sources, some of them distorted. He also repeats the well-known libel that the Jews use the blood of non-Jews to prepare Passover matzah, refers to The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and quotes from the virulently antisemitic book Jewish Society by Coptic Egyptian writer Zaki Shenouda.

Dick Morris has an interesting theory about Obama’s true motivation for the contraception mandate in his latest Lunch Alert!. Obama always has an ulterior motive, he notes – you have to read it to know how to defeat the guy. Morris says that for Obama, the issue is not about infringing upon religious liberty – he thinks Obama’s trying to replace abortion with contraception in the left/right social divide because they’re losing the abortion debate. He wants to polarize the nation to profit his reelection chances over the issue of contraception.

But Biden and Daley faced a strong group making the case for the rule within the administration….

Via Real Clear Politics, the excuse from President Obama for not cutting the budget deficit in half as promised (instead he tripled it):

“Well we’re not there because this recession turned out to be a lot deeper than any of else realized. Everybody who is out there back in 2009, if you look back what their estimates were in terms of how many jobs had been lost, how bad the economy had contracted when I took office everybody had underestimated it. People thought that the economy contracted 3%, it turns it was close to 9%. We lost 8 million jobs just in a year’s span, about half a year before I took office and about a half a year after I took office. So, the die had been cast and a lot of us didn’t understand how bad it was going to get. That increases the deficit because less tax revenues come in and it means more people are getting unemployment insurance, we’re helping states more so they don’t teachers, etc. The key though is that we’re setting ourselves on a path so that we can get our debt under control.”

In other words, he misdiagnosed the economy’s problem and fed it poisonous overspending and heavy borrowing when it needed time to heal itself.

    What a dumb ass.

Sessions appeared on Mark Levin’s radio show, yesterday, to discuss the budget, and the Obama administration’s shady, irresponsible, and downright shocking manner they’ve been treating the American economy. Levin and Sessions agree that if some of the nefarious things they’re saying and doing were done in the private sector, they would be held legally accountable.

Somehow, the President of the United States is destroying the US economy, blaming it all on his opponents, and no one can do a damn thing about it.

Obama leads Romney and Santorum by wide margins -talking about having a Moral compass:
Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has advocated capping medical malpractice awards at $250,000, but in 1999, his wife sued her doctor over a back injury and asked for twice that amount

As ABC News reports, Santorum’s wife, Karen, sued a Virginia-based chiropractor
for half-a-million dollars for allegedly bungling a spinal adjustment.

The suit charged that in November 1996, Karen saw Dr. David Dolberg for a spinal alignment, according to an article by Roll Call on Dec. 13, 1999. The adjustment, however, was performed improperly and resulted in a herniated disk that caused her physical pain and emotional suffering, and required surgery and multiple doctors’ visits, she alleged.

She sued for $500,000, despite the fact that her medical bills totaled approximately $18,800.
Same wife who though not married at the time, had an affair with the doctor that delivered her – who by the way was an abortion doctor – and had a third term
abortion to save her own life – of course, SHE gets to choose – you dont want the rest of us to have that option. Regarding the contraception battle this is a huge plus for Obama – he found a solution and the Republicans are still harping on it and the more they do the more they lose women voters especially independent women voters – and you cant win an election without them. Fully 99 percent of women have used contraception and want to continue to use it – I dont see you railing against men getting Viagra but of course, you must be one of those women that have the luxury of staying home and taking care of children and have plenty of money to do so and want your daughters, if you have any, to do the same -so 19th century -well thats not the rest of us and we need to plan for families we can afford – more contraception less abortions too. Its just anything against Obama no matter what he does. If you dont like GOVERNMENT move to Somalia where there isnt any then you will see what that is like. And if you get hit by a hurricane or other natural disaster you will be screaming for the government to help you.
You dont even know anything about socialism and how it works – this administration has reduced the size of government and is making plans to streamline many departments even more. It doesnt matter what you write about him he will be in for four more years – so get used to it. Your candidates are so weak its laughable how you can get behind such clowns and the GOP establishment is wringing their hands – yesterday Boehner asked the extreme tea-party wing of the GOP in Congress to tone it down and be less extreme and more “politically savvy” you know what that means – back to “business as usual!

Welcome to fornication nation, where the “right” to unfettered sexual gratification trumps all others, where the pursuit of happiness is no longer possible without “free” government-mandated contraceptives for all. And where the way to appeal to voters is to pretend that the opponent is threatening that sacred “right,” and to deny the real rights, and even the existence, of dissenters.

Ms. Fabrizio lists the fruits of our liberation from the shackles of traditional morality: “pederasty, pornography, social disease, the objectification of women, and generations of fatherless children.” She adds that motherhood and marriage have been denigrated. Can anyone deny that this is what’s taken place? And can anyone argue that this is good for our children?

When we speak of sex this does not, of course, refer to what was once known as conjugal love; that which in an ordered society is a beneficial and great moral good. No, the modern conception of sex is that exercise of bodily functions that exists only for the use of human beings by other human beings solely as instruments of physical pleasure; often perversely so.

This desire for unfettered access to sex is probably one of the greatest reasons for this country’s unfortunate descent into the realms of atheism and agnosticism. “A loving God would never be against___” — fill in the blank with “hookups” or any number of sexual deviations. After all, a creator who did not intend for our bodies to engage in rampant and random sex cannot really be worthy of worship, can he?

Pregnancy was celebrated as the coming of a “blessed event” or a “bundle of joy” and mothers were revered as symbolic of America herself, along with baseball and apple pie. Today, pregnancy has been described as a “punishment” by our president, while full-time mothers are regarded as anachronistic failures by all but the most twisted of religious fanatics. So the inclusion of abortion and contraception into the area of healthcare is just the next step in the logical progression of the dismantling of marriage and motherhood.

President Obama and the Democrats think the best thing to do for an ailing market is to give it a dose of Stimulus. The first plan artificially lowered interest rates to 4%. The second plan forced government mortgage lending giants, Fannie and Freddie, to pressure banks to reduce the mortgage loans for the same homeowners that cannot afford their homes. He couldn’t get it past Congress, so he instated it via executive order. HAMP, HARP, and all of the other feel good housing assistance plans are not working.

How many stimulus programs is it going to take? How many trillions of dollars has to be wasted? How many more people do we have to blame? If you want to own a home, you need to be able to pay for it. As Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-AL) says, the best remedy for the housing crisis is a job. But for old time’s sake, let’s go to the highlights reel:

“What makes this recovery plan so important is not just that it will create or save three-and-a-half million jobs over the next two years. … It’s that we’re putting Americans to work doing the work that America needs done, work that will bring real and lasting change for generations to come.” – President Obama on Feb. 17, 2009
