We are all stunned and saddened by the news of Andrew Breitbart’s passing. Andrew was a warrior who stood on the side of what was right. He defended what was right. He defended the defenseless.

It is so sad to consider his four young children who have lost their dad. All our prayers are with his family now. May God comfort his wife and children.

Many of us will have life-long memories of our work or encounters with Andrew. May we draw on those to help forward the cause of fighting for what is right. For me, just one of those memories was in Pella, Iowa, last year after the premiere of “The Undefeated.” Andrew held court in the restaurant at the local hotel talking about his favorite topic: how “culture is upstream of politics” and how conservatives must be unafraid to fight the leftwing media, cultural, and political establishments. The loss of his voice in this fight will be deeply felt, but thankfully his work lives on at his “Bigs,” and thank God for his inspiration and leadership.

God bless you, Andrew. Rest in peace, friend. We will continue the fight.

R.I.P., Andrew Breitbart: Innovative Genius of New Media Dies at Age 43

    Posted on | March 1, 2012 | 14 Comments and 0 Reactions

    WINCHESTER, Virginia
“There is never a good time for bad things to happen,” I had just remarked to my wife, as we drove to the hospital where today we are dealing with a family emergency.

Minutes later, my cell phone rang. Jeff Quinton was calling to tell me the news: “Andrew Breitbart died.”

It was incredible. It had to be some kind of bad joke. I called Matthew Vadum, a contributor to Breitbart’s Big Government, who said he had confirmed the shocking news.

I met Andrew Breitbart in 2005 when I was asked to write for the Huffingtpon Post. He was running the show. Everyone who knew him – left and right – said he was brilliant, eccentric, one of a kind. I instantly fell in love with the guy. To this day, i’ve never met anyone as fearless. He was my first guest on Redeye, a show I got largely because he told people about me. He became a cheerleader for my work, but more important, a dear close friend I could confide in, about anything. My wife called him the wizard, for he could conjure up anything at any time with limitless energy.

He’s the only person I know who operated without a safety net. He always knew things would turn out the way they were supposed to – so he didn’t worry about money or, i guess, his health, too much.

He was the spiritual leader of the modern conservative, libertarian cause. He was immersed in pop culture and wished to drag the right into the modern world – knowing this is how America speaks to the world. He was the heart of the matter. The fighter. Losing him is like a fiery planet going dark.

My heart felt condolences go out to Susie and the kids.

In fact, it’s my sticky-note to the entire body of people on the Right, whether they are Atlas-shrugging, Jesus-preaching, Trump-pumping, birthplace-questioning; be they deftly pointing, politely or not, coherently or not, I say: Don’t Shut Up!

I’m thinking, dear friends, that we on the Right, and I will include myself in this, are guilty of being completely too prickly and delicate here in the birth pangs of a cultural transition. And if you’ve EVER been in labor, or been with a woman in labor, you’ll know that it’s no time for niceties and courtesies, much less change-ups or gaming the payment plans.

      That’s understandable. He was quite a character. A unique-y.
Its made me think of my late fiance who died of a massive heartattack at age 43, too. He was quite a character, not too much unlike Breitbart. A people lover like him.

Yeah, Andrew is irreplaceable but I hope his work continues with even more fervor by many more conservatives.

I think a lot of people have seized upon the idea of all of us become more ‘Breitbart – ish’ in that we become more vocal in our beliefs as a tribute to him

    I like the idea

Prior to his passing, Andrew Breitbart said that the mission of the Breitbart empire was to exemplify the free and fearless press that our Constitution protects–but which, increasingly, the mainstream media denies us.

“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?” – “Who guards the guardians?” Andrew saw himself in that role—as a guardian protecting Americans from the left’s “objective” loyal scribes.

Andrew wanted to do what the mainstream media would not. First and foremost: Andrew pledged to vet President Barack H. Obama.

Andrew did not want to re-litigate the 2008 election. Nor did he want to let Republicans off the hook. Instead, he wanted to show that the media had failed in its most basic duty: to uncover the truth, and hold those in power accountable, regardless of party.

From today through Election Day, November 6, 2012, we will vet this president–and his rivals.

We begin with a column Andrew wrote last week in preparation for today’s Big relaunch–a story that should swing the first hammer against the glass wall the mainstream media has built around Barack Obama

Several key pieces of information are contained in this stunning admission by an operative of one of the most respected intelligence gathering corporations in the world. First, the Democratic Party engaged in election tampering, a felony, by stuffing ballot boxes in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

But my mourning is mixed with a sense of frustration. Great men like Andrew Breitbart are not great simply because of their own personal actions and achievements; they’re great because they show us the way to be just like them.

A good father goes fishing and feeds his sons every night. A great father teaches his sons how to fish so they can feed themselves.

A good muckraking investigative journo-activist breaks shocking stories that change the political landscape. A great muckraking investigative journo-activist — like Andrew Breitbart — shows us that anybody can do what he does.

In The Audacity of Hope, Barack Obama claims that he worried after 9/11 that his name, so similar to that of Osama bin Laden, might harm his political career.

But Obama was not always so worried about misspellings and radical resemblances. He may even have cultivated them as he cast himself as Chicago’s radical champion.

In 1998, a small Chicago theater company staged a play titled The Love Song of Saul Alinsky, dedicated to the life and politics of the radical community organizer whose methods Obama had practiced and taught on Chicago’s South Side.

Congrats and kudos to Breitbart’s crew — Dana Loesch, Joel Pollak, Kurt Schlicter, John Nolte, Larry O’Connor, Liberty Chick, and the entire staff of editors and writers — for carrying the torch.

Note she also claimed during her testimony to Congress that she was 23 years old, yet she took a six year hiatus between her undergraduate degree and Georgetown Law making her closer to 30.

When Rush made his comments about Sandra Fluke, I thought he was going overboard in order to bring media attention to the farcical nature of her testimony. If that was his m/o, it backfired because the media firestorm that predictably ensued led to the DNC fund-raising off of it, and Rush losing a number of sponsors. The Democrat Media Complex is doing what it does best – picking a (conservative) targeting it, freezing it, and doing its best to de-legitimize it. Never mind the fact that the left is so consistently vile in its treatment of conservative women, it’s barely worth mentioning it when they call Sarah Palin, Michelle Malkin, or Laura Ingraham, and let’s not be sexist, here – even Rick Santorum – a vile name. Yes, thanks to the efforts of gay activist, Dan Savage, we’ve got a major candidate for President of the United States whose name, according to Google is defined in the most vile and depraved terms imaginable. And the MSM calls that “Santorum’s Google problem.” (yuk, yuk.) Because it’s HIS problem that left-wing activists have done this to him, and Google refuses to fix it.

Couldn’t it thus be said that Sandra Fluke has a “talk radio problem”. Because after all, it’s her own extreme views that led this to happen to her.

in a Friday podcast titled “Andrew Breibart: DEAD (thankfully),” John “Sly” Sylvester, a liberal talk-show host on Madison radio station WTDY, “paid tribute” to Breitbart, who died Thursday morning, by saying he was glad Breitbart was dead and would pour weed-killer on his grave.

When Carolla tweeted sympathetic thoughts when news of Breitbart’s death broke (“You can question Breitbart’s politics, but never question his love for his family and his country”), he said he got swarmed with vitriolic anger in response by many.

“Maybe you didn’t agree with the guy politically but the guy’s got a family left behind,” said Carolla, who said a lot of his followers on Twitter reminded him of some of the remarks Breitbart said when Sen. Ted Kennedy died.

I think that they are afraid Breitbart will come back to haunt them and they are stocking up on wooden stakes and crosses. They’re probably sleeping at night with one eye open. 😯 😆
